Welcome to Incarnation's 50th Year!

From 2008, through 2009, Incarnation will celebrate and commemorate fifty years.  We will use this time to reminisce about the past fifty years, celebrate the current time, and look forward to a wonderful future.

Nearly forty parishioners have been working diligently over the past few months, planning and preparing for our 50th year.  Collectively, we tried to follow some simple guidelines:

  • Inclusion: We want to offer something for everyone, taking into account ages and interests;

  • Outreach: We plan to reach out to those people who don’t come to Incarnation regularly (or at all);

  • Use Existing Programs:  We will tie into and compliment some of our already existing programs.

Here are some of the events and projects that are being planned now:

  • A formal gala to be held at Boston’s Seaport Hotel on November 22, 2008;

  • A lecture series, featuring substantive topics and speakers, including sessions on Vatican II,  Music Inspired by Christian Theology, Christian Art and Architecture, Christianity in Film and Christian themes in literature;

  • A Children’s Birthday Party tentatively planned for January 2009;

  • An Expanded Parish Festival in June of 2009;

  • A special Service Project to commemorate our 50 years;

  • A book, video and display to show the richness of our history;

  • The sale of commemorative Incarnation Christmas ornaments;

  • A Family Day at Fenway in September, 2009;

  • And, a liturgy, celebrated by the Cardinal, in December, 2009, to cap our very full year.

If you are wondering what you can do to help with the celebration, there are any number of things:

  • Participate: Attend one event, or all;

  • Help: Join a committee.  There is a lot of work to do—and a lot of fun to be had;

  • Stay Informed: Watch for regular notices in the Bulletin, and on our web site, www.incarnationmelrose.org.  Listen for announcements at Mass, and look for periodic pieces in the Melrose papers and on MMTV.

  • Reach Out: Invite others to join us.  Whether your friends and neighbors are parishioners or non parishioners, all are welcome.

50 years is significant.  50 is celebrated.  It doesn’t matter if it is a 50th Birthday, Anniversary, Reunion or Event.  Incarnation is entering into an important year.  Let’s enjoy it!
